Android Question send and recive message through app

Please members advise me on which way to do my app i wanted a small chat app in my application where by the user sends data to my database then after i can use the database to send back the reply to that particular sender

There are a lot of expamples on forum.

This for example use whatsapp:

But if you want to create and don't have experience, then need to have a database structure, and use http2utils tu send and receive data. It's a simple way to beggin.
