OK, I'm baffled. Again. I created a load of set up and cab files to put on my web site, cos ya can't just expect punters to manually copy files, even if that's what you do yourself. I'm using the setup builder etc from this site, which all appear to work.
I tested the set up files, which contain the cab files. They work and the installed apps on my phone work. So, good cab files by implication.
I created a new page for my site and set up the links for people to download from. I tested it locally. The setup files "download" perfectly. But the cab files cause IE8 to display the folder in unreadable 8.3 mode instead of downloading!!! Why? I mean, I've download CAB files with IE8 from other sites, so why does it bomb off to an 8.3 directory display for my files?
I'll add one pair of the files just in case anyone wants a play.
It's the same for all the setups, they download, and all the cabs don't.
OK, I see what's happening, it is downloading the file automatically into a temporary folder without asking if you want to, then it puts you inside the CAB!!!!! Why??? And why just my files?
