Shutting down an app

I have a successful app on Google and because I am getting too old to want to deal with it supporting it was wondering if anyone understood and could explain how to shut-down and app on Google

I know I can Unpublish the app and this will stop new users from acquiring it.

The app has lots of yearly renewing subscriptions I know I can stop the subscriptions from being active but does this stop OLD users from renewing

How would I stop old users from auto-renewing?

Thanks in advance for any knowledge

You could sell/give the app to another developer:
  1. Find a new developer for the app
  2. Make sure the new developer can compile and publish the newer version of your app using a new package name that uses the new developers own signing key (from their developer account).
  3. Create and publish a new "update" of your app that simply informs the existing users (and any new users wanting your app) of the new developer of your app and point them to the new developers listing of your app in the play store.
  4. Disable subscription renewals in your version of the app, which will nudge people to subscribe to the new developers version.

your subscribers may not take this lightly; take care you don't end up with a bowling ball through your living room window.

I do not believe there is any way to disable subscription renewals from the app. This is something a user has to do.

And to stop the app from running while the user has / continues to renew their subscriptions would not be right.

I guess I can just inform them at every start-up that support is no long available and let the app continue to run without updating it.

Just wish there was an easy way to wind an app down.
