You can interface the module with AT commands, just like any modem. The pin definitions are to declare a softwareserial device, if you don't have a real UART available in you board. This emulates a serial UART on any pin.

Another thing: this is C++ code, you can use as inline C code. If you have some knowledge about C it's not hard to convert to B4R.
