Android Question (Solved) Trying to add fontawesome character to a button

I have a manually created button I am trying to add a font awesome character to its text. Is there something I'm missing as I just get a rectangle with a cross

I created a not visible label with a font awesome typeface and copied that to my button.

Anyway the solution proposed by @oparra ( look code example #9 ) is the best solution
