Some of my A.I. predictions

- The so called "singularity" will not happen, but nonetheless A.I. will become ever smarter way beyond our comprehension.

- In the mid-2020's most of middle management jobs will be eliminated.
Autonomous intelligent software solutions will take-over people management, job interviews, layoffs and team-leading, allowing companies to be structured in only 3 layers: The boss, AI management software and blue-collar workers (for physical tasks).

- In the mid-2030's the same "business model" will be adopted by the government. Again, 3 layers: The president / king / dictator (+minimal staff), the AI layer (all ministries) and the people (peasants). The first countries to adopt it will be the Scandinavian ones and it will be a success. It will be a disaster in China (bye-bye human rights).

I know. But my prediction... It will work until that long lost A.I. bug shows up, part of it crashes (money lost, companies crash) and all the big players blame each other!!!

LOL, At least I will be dead by then.

My prediction may be the same with some exception.
Many small business and shopping centers will disappear and almost all shopping will be online. Only two industries will survive: warehousing and delivery.
Big factories will also start to disappear and production means and factories will be personal and small.. even cars will be electric and everyone can make his own car and a few to sell. again this means the masses or blue collar will not be destroyed or suffer, but will be nodes in the new distributed manufacturing system and enjoy even higher level life Factories like GM, Lockheed Martin, BP..etc will become dinosaurs and vanish from the face of earth.

Here in Germany we have detailed time tables for the departure of trains, coaches, etc. A lot of them are late. Digital signs at the stations won't help. If a train IS late, it's late. If it's on time, the digital display makes no sence.

When I first travelled to Paris, France, I tried to find a timetable for a train. There was none. The trains just drive every x minutes. So - no matter when you arrive at the station - the next train will approach within 5 minutes or less. Same in London.

What I want to say: As long as we can't make trains, etc. on time, prevent traffic jams, stop making war, stop exploit countries, stop wracking the nature, stop felling forrests, stop dictators, stop to force millions of people leave their countries, etc. we will not need any electronics anymore in a few years from now...

I can't imagine how A.I. can evolve, but the big data that can feed it is already there, and growing
Once we all become victims of the A.I, buying everything that they want us to buy (because they know, even before us, that we want it), Mr.Robot will come and erase all the Internet Databases so that we can start again.

The more complex the software, the more ways it can be hacked. There is also the problem the "A.I." may fail catastrophically because of bad code or the inability to process the inputs properly. Take a look at the Tesla car that ran into a semi-trailer because it was parked at an angle on the road. This input was unexpected. Tesla will correct it, but it failed catastrophically for the driver when the car's roof got sheared off. He won't be buying another Tesla. You can be sure of that. This failure affected only one person. But what if they extend it to a Jumbo Jet? Will you volunteer to be the first passenger? A.I. is best suited for robot vacuums and manufacturing where the inputs are well defined. BTW, if you like A.I, I recommend you watch the movie "Colossus: The Forbin Project". It is an oldie but a goodie from 1970.

Working in a house for a week .. the owner would turn the vacuum loose every morning and it would auto dock itself after about 4 hours.
Each day the owner would come home and sweep up 5 - 6 areas of dirt that remained .. always in the same area.
Maybe it needed a bit of occasional chaos code .

Look into the traffic light controllers.. the real world one. the outputs are mechanical relays, not transistors.. that's because with mechanical relays you are 100% sure the red and green can never be on at the same time because the relays are SPDT.. But if you use transistors then anything is possible in case of circuit problems.. if a bias resistor burned out then the transistor output can stay on or off regardless of the corresponding transistor's state.. making the design Artificial Stupidity.

Personally I am between 2 opinions that complete each other.

A.I. based companies will take over most of the middle layer, but not just because of their aptitude or success at doing it, but because, in 20 years from now, we will have lost over 70% of the specialised middle layer workers, people like me, electricians, plummets, etc... Kids nowadays are just dumb! They don't care about learning a trade, they care about Facebook likes, having a nice looking body, chasing pokemons, watching reality shows, where the 'stars" are played to look and act dumb, and the masses take it for their true nature...

Bottom line, yeah, A.I. will be more and more present, but not because of "natural evolution", because of the exact opposite!

The ultimate AI machine has been released for people with too much money. Will this device take over the world? Not at this price, it won't. But if it does try to conquer the world, you can regain control it with your Android device or iPhone.
