My observation has been that people tell me how sh*t things are where I live and how fantastic things are overseas, and yet when I visit overseas, things there turn out to not be quite as fantastic as claimed.
Although: in UK in 2012, I set up a video call between a 2yo and her dad on the other side of the world. We were in a car driving at > 100 km/h on the motorway from Birmingham (ok, Kenilworth) to Oxford, and I could hear the call but not see it. Sounded like it all went great, but when we got back to Australia and I was talking with the dad about how amazed I was about technology actually working as advertised for once, he said that all he'd seen at his end was the roof of the car. Still worth it for the 2yo to see her dad though. ?
