Android Question Spinner dropdown list appears around screen centre

I have a spinner with 5 items, when I click the spinner, the list opens but it does not open as a dropdown list from the spinner (which is positioned using a designer script), but rather away from the spinner and centred around centre screen.

Is there any way I can make the spinner list of items drop down below the spinner itself? I could not find much documentation on spinners and customising them.
