Starting ADB on PC problem

This is probably a driver issue. Have you tried restarting the device or the computer (or both)?

Sorry I was in the wrong place!
Thank you Erel but no luck. It would seem that whatever driver was loaded is perhaps still there but I cannot remove it because I don't know where it is, especially with ADB not running.
It may well be that I could use B4A bridge but it did work without and I would like to understand what is wrong.
Any further suggestions please?

In the device manager you can see if you have drivers and if the are good.
You can uninstall them to
And see where the are placed

Thanks for that parijs, but I seem to have solved it but don't know why. Maybe somebody could explain.
If I open the CD drive that appears when I connect the tablet it shows a setup.exe as well as adb.exe. Running the latter had no effect however running setup seems to have run PCTools which sets up to sync contacts etc.
I do not use this ordinarily and assume that is all it is for.
BUT suddenly ADB Interface appeared in the PC device manager.
Switching the device off naturally causes it to disappear, and reconnection brings it back. So I must have uninstalled this synchronization tool assuming I didn't need it and hey presto, no ADB.

I fear I am missing something here!

I read this about your pctools

GoodSync2Go Pro installs and runs directly on any portable device such as a USB flash drive or portable hard drive.

perhaps you can turn off somewhere

There's no "real" driver...

Just connect your Viewpad 7 to your PC.
A window pops up where you can select "setup.exe" - select it.
Then a few drivers get installed (perhaps a restart is necessary)

Seems like the Viewpad 7 has a virtual drive which gets mounted when connecting it to a PC - it's shown up as virtual CD-drive for me under Windows XP and Windows 7.

PS: The drivers are also located on the virtual CD-drive in a directory.

Thanks for that. Unfortunately no window popped up and so I was unaware of anything.
Now working fine!

you don't have USB debugging checked on your tablet

adb can't find ViewSonic ViewPad 7

I connected my tablet which has debug turned on.

I think the problem was caused by not have autorun on at the PC, which prevented the message box to run setup, that would have been a hint.
All is well now and working as it should be.
