Android Question Suppress keyboard top lines ?

In landscape mode on a phone there was barely enough room to enter two lines, but recently, now the keyboard comes with an extra panel with icons on it, like on the screenshot I am posting.

I found no setup on the phone to remove that extra panel.

Is there any way to remove that, or the suggestions panel ?

Thank you.

Look at the space bar. See that it says SwiftKey? That's the name of the keyboard your phone has installed, and active. So look for SwiftKey settings, would be my recommendation.

My question was if there was any way to control that in code, though
Best case: perhaps. But more likely: not at all. And for sure you can't assume it would be standardized between different keyboards, and you most likely can't assume that all your users have SwiftKey keyboard installed and active.

While it's great that we can change the keyboard, Google haven't really enforced strict rules for that kind of software. You can get a small insight into the problem by reading my post about disabling keyboard suggestions: https://www.b4x.com/android/forum/threads/how-to-disable-keyboard-suggestions.88224/
