Table Cell Selection

Could you help me please - I have a problem with selecting the first cell of a table.

The following code generates a table (tblTote) of 20 cells each containing its corresponding number. A label (lblFirst) shows the value of the selected cell. Until a selection is made, the label shows 0. On the first selection you can choose any number but the first cell and it works fine. On subsequent selections any number can be chosen.

Presumably the table is registering the first cell as its current selection, even though it is not highlighted, and selecting it does not generate a SelectionChanged event. So how do I get it to accept any cell on the first selection.

Unfortunately yes.
As a workaround, I would suggest you to add two lines in your code:

The first line selects a different cell than the first one.
The second line selects the first cell again as the default selection, generates the SelectionChanged event and the cell is highlighted.

Thanks Klause. As this was my first post I'd not expected quite such a speedy response.

Your solution works fine to highlight the cell but unfortunately doesn't provide the solution to my problem.

I am trying to generate a grid of numbers from which the user can pick any. This number is used to check against an sql file of participants and their chosen two numbers. Details of possible matches are displayed and then the second number is picked and a winner or no winner can be determined (I had cut out all the additional code, which is working fine, to simplify the problem I was left with which was the inability to pick the first cell - i.e. generate a selection change).

My current thought is to generate an additional line of numbers in the grid which are not displayed and then to select one of these as the initial state. I presume you cannot select a cell which is out of range.

One solution is to add an invisible column.
The attached program does it.
But if you need to be able to select a same number a second time, then the problem remains. Selecting the selected cell once more doesn't raise a SelectionChanged event.

In my current task selecting the same cell for the second number would be invalid so the problem doesn't arise.

I'll leave solving that problem until the need arises!
