I am scanning bar codes with a Bluetooth scanner into a B4i app. The app processes the bar-code and saves the data to a SQL and returns to the textfield for the next bar code scan. This works well for our warehouse environment.
When the scanner is pair to the iphone and after the first scan, the iphone popup keyboard is disable. Some of the bar-code (in a warehouse) are not scan-able and must be enter by hand thus the need for a popup keyboard in the app.
I can turn off the Bluetooth in settings (not a very clean approach) enter the bar-code by popup keyboard and then turn the Bluetooth back on for the scanner. The Iphone retains the pairing info and reconnect in my limited testing.
It has been reported that the eject button on ios keyboards will reset the keyboard to popup... Not sure of this. Its also interesting when first paired the keyboard will popup. and only after the first scan by the bar-code reader will the keyboard stop displaying which sounds like there is two different states of the HID connection.
I would like a button to reset the keyboard state if possible or to pass the eject command to the ios...
I guess I could have another page with buttons that act like a number keyboard and let the user build the scan number since it happens one in every hundred scans or so...
Any suggestion or approach is greatly appreciated.
