What do you think Erel to turn this thread to a "Tool recommendation" thread where people can post what kind of tools they use and the advantages and disadvantages of that tool. then it could be a sticky thread in the chit-chat section and people will easily find it. if you agree if have some awesome tools i use and really recommend for any dev to use but it is not worth opening a new thread about that.

GIMP

Use: Image Editor
Price: Free
Compatible: Windows, Mac OS, Linux
Website: https://www.gimp.org/

Gimp is a must for every developer. It has many features like layers, brushes, and much more. I would say it is the best Image editor tool after PS and it is 100% for free.
If you are a game maker or need an icon for your App GIMP is the tool you should use.

Humble Bundle

This is not a tool but a Website. Every Developer should know it. The idea is to offer a big bundle of software/books/games for a very low price that you donate for charity.
you can find bundles that are 1000's of $ worth for about 25$.

The Bundles change from time to time but there are always relevant stuff for developers. I purchased many software, assets from there for a very low price.

JD_GUI Java Decompiler
I use this a LOT to poke around jars, particularly B4A core.jar and B4AShared.jar to see how things are implemented and fit together.

JADX Java Decompiler
JADX is occasionally useful as it can decompile apks, aars and other Android files. I use the jadx-gui-1.3.3-1-no-jre-win.exe version. Get it by clicking on Releases on the right of the home page.

FastStone Image Viewer

I have used this as my image viewer for as long as I can remember. It suits the way I organise my pictures and has some pretty good image editing and manipulation capabilities. Although I also keep paint.net on my computers I haven't needed to use it for a long time now. I also use it as a screenshot tool which it also does well.

There used to be an Android app that had a similar tree of folders interface that I liked but it got bought out by a Chineses malware distributor so I now use CX File Explorer on Android which as well as being a good image viewer with a UI that I like is also a good file explorer! It's free with no ads - nothing with ads goes on my phones.
