It is your certificate. From the developer.
If you do exclusively work for the customer then you should have used "his keystore" or make a contract that he will get the keystore used.

If you uploaded it at google play then yes. The certificated used with the first version can not be changed.

If he want to upload it under his account then he need to sign the apk with his key.
