Typeface doesnt change on real device

I have tested this and it works fine on the emulator.
However when I set:

l1.Typeface = Typeface.DEFAULT_BOLD

It doesnt work on my Galaxy S. It is running some custom theme.
Is it possible that the Default Font does not have a 'BOLD' option so the phone cant show bold or italic?
Is there a way to find out?

Yes.

You can include any font you like with your application and then use it instead.
