Here in the U.S. we have the clown show that we call our government. Our clown in chief turned down test kits and information on how to make them in January because "we can do it better if we need to". I turned 62 last week, and though I don't expect to die (ever), I do expect to get this virus. We have no clue how many are infected or what trends look like here because we have so few test kits available in most areas. Sorry for the rant.

Jem .... never mind the rant (we all need one now and again), at least he isn't proposing taking turmeric and snake-oil by way of treatment (especially as they are only good in cooking and curing squeaky snakes, respectively).

As a 61 year old immortal (at least until now), I am also disturbed by the patchy response to the virus. My partner-in-crime is about to turn 80, so we are more than a little worried - not for myself, but for M.

we were talking here today, where our anachronistic government has outdone Mr Trump and his 4th world mind and the other nutter trumpets, that there might be a BIZARRE up side to this....

The moot point was : what is happening in areas of war and strife (Syria), political instability (Iran) and /or where terror groups are very active (parts of Africa / Boko Haram in Nigeria etc). In those many areas where war and contests of power have been THE focus of those environments. Now, there is something that really OUT stares war and conflict on a political level - any level.

Is there any evidence that in those areas they all suddenly start to cooperate or "cooperate". A mild example of this is how very opposing political parties, who in December were calling each other all sorts of names, are now as one in supporting the government's actions. I have to explain that a few minutes ago on a TV news cast one of the virulently (sorry a pun I know) opposition party leaders in our parliament was addressing a press conference and in extreme support of the Government.

So, there was the question, are conflict zones going into a program interrupt? If not then Man there must be some hard-headed groups out there. And, once this is "over", will we ever be rid of it, will the just return to the pig-headed politics?

We are still moving around here, and I was on a flight today with a group of incoming or at least tourists in the middle of their trip. I suspect that we are at the point where exponential growth could begin, the hope here is that we can flatten the curve and contain things, based on the experience of real nations not the toybox land of Trump. There is large scale voluntary shut down, our currency is in the toilet once again (which we should be used to by now anyway). Our president said earlier that the economic impact is going to BIG and HARD (well its in the toilet anyway). I can only hope that the politicians remember their statements of today once the economy starts to seek recovery, and stay they sensible.

Prediction around our discussion : the big reset is happening and the economies and financial transactions are going to be distinctly different - the wish - as long as the politicians stay out of the planning and formulating of that....

Now that's all off my chest....Go well in Europe, Malasia, India, UK, everywhere else, wake up America, - Africa awaits ....

I wonder : What was Spain like (in particular as an apparent origin point) after the 1903 'flu - the world wide death toll then was something like 18million.

Hey, there's a great new TV series "The King of Clowns" - everyone remember, please I thought of it first here, well if there are enough viewers left ....... The bloke's statements just seen on the BBC news are Bizarre as well : VICTORY BIG VICTORY Mr T..... where the hell are you? The SETI search hasn't found you yet...................

seems like no matter how many times I read this in response to an alert in the top left bell, the alert just keeps poping.

I think CoronaV has been on the booze and crept in here........

Ah that link worked in #51 that's what I got and I thought your brand of humour was coming out. Italian people have a 'fatalistic' brand of humour. A friend once said to me the trouble with the pope travelling is that people always die at his rallies to bless them... It was funny at the time but realism is that way...

this has become a fact.

deads are like doubling every day but stil not comparable to Italy and Spain.

Also in Iran they are beyond 1500 deads but nobody seems to care about that as it never gets mentioned on the news.

In Italy it has been talked about and it seems that there are many more than those communicated. Satellite photos show what looks like fields turned into cemeteries

In northern Italy the situation worsens, today 793 dead, they are unable to dispose of the corpses, the cemeteries are unable to receive many deaths every day. They take away the corpses with military trucks.

Doctors are not enough and the state has made an appeal to all doctors of the nation to offer volunteers in the most affected areas. Doctors come from China and Colombia.

Currently 40,000(+) are infected with half of them with mild symptoms and half with severe symptoms. Pharmacies are not always supplied with drugs for other diseases, such as oxygen cylinders and more. Some patients with other diseases are in difficulty and a certain amount (unspecified) have died from lack of pharmacy tools.

There are NOT enough masks for doctors working in the hospital. Many companies are converting to produce them. Some masks that were withdrawn from the outside were blocked in the countries where the expedition stopped in an attempt to be requisitioned by the local countries. Today some loads have been unlocked.

Obviously we all suspect that the public numbers are not the real ones. Maybe the numbers are transmitted downwards
