USB-C is the new smartphone standard

It's official, the UE has decided.
Starting Fall 2023 all smartphones, no matter the brand nor the OS, must have USB-C as a charging port.

This means 2 things...
"Old generation " iPhone devices will become cheaper, but their chargers will see their price and demand increase..

Any thoughts ?

I'm not entirely sure if you meant EU or UAE, I'm guessing the former. :) Regardless, UE [sic] != North America. Do you think they will enter into the fold just because a decision has been made elsewhere?

Also, do you have a source for it?

Sorry, for me is UE, for the "other side of the pond" is EU as in European union...
And yes, it's official... as is the end of the thermal combustion based vehicles selling by 2035

In USA everything is "different "....
You are ending 3G coverage, and already have WiMax and wifi only phones...
Here he have only starting the 5G, along with wifi6...
Maybe Apple will separate its devices by region.
Anyway... one day we will only need 1 charger at home for all appliances... and I am betting it is yet to be invented!

The old generation as you described will survive for many years later, prices will not affected by fall 2023, because these old generation will be marketed well in the 3rd world at least.
But smartphones prices by default decreased year by year, whatever the mater type c or not.

The main reason why they did it: No need to try 3 times (at least) which side fits anymore ?

Big fun as they still think they can build electric cars for anybody. Noone really cares about how to build them (batteries? price? rare earth metals), how to charge them (living in a 10 storey apartment house will be fun), how the power is produced and delivered (power grid going down), etc.

Most people can effort a cheap used or new car but not a electric car (used cars are risky due to the battery which costs 2000-5000$ to replace).

And what about trucks, cranes, ships, etc. :)

The Average European Household has about 5 to 15 different charging devices with different connectors. At least so they say...
At my place we struggle to find Iphone cables as the kids have about 4 phones and can only find 1 or 2 cables...
Me and my wife we have Android devices, both USB-C, and about 4/5 cables.
Then comes BL Boomboxes, with micro-Usb, Cameras with either micro-Usb or sub-micro-USB, laptop, each with its own connector...
I even had an Iconia Tablet with a 12V/5V (rare) micro-Usb, that used the 12v as charging, and the 5V as Data connection.
Not to mention IoT devices, like arduino, that still uses USB-A/B...
So I can relate to this decision.

As for combustion vehicules, well, most of the cost you imply with electrical vehicules, are present also in combustion cars.
Also the oil mining cost are important factor.
I don't say I disagree with you... but here in France you can by a Fiat Panda Hybrid for about 30€/month... Yes Thirty euros per month....
And making electric car main stream, will have a negative effect on their prices, as they will no longer be a "luxury" commodity.

but their chargers will see their price and demand increase..
For this point, we get one usb in port and multiple out ports; small, big, c-type etc.
So no problem there.

i really don't care much about what USB type i use but i don't like it a lot that a government decides what we should use or not and takes the freedom of production. it is really wrong. today it is something that suite us but next time it may be not. ???

So basically, you're unable to enjoy a good decision because there might be a bad decision in the future. Sounds like a painful worldview.

Would that be a Tesla with a USB-C charging port ? [right next my hydrogen powered environmentally sustainable vehicle?]

what about trucks
A big strip mining company in Australia and one in South Africa are using hydrogen for their 80-tonne earth moving trucks - I bet its scalable to my favorite hydrogen based SUV dream (very eye-catching curves). No Bitcoin for me just hydrogen investment. Several car manufacturers are developing hydrogen products - can't they just work faster - PLEASE. They can even put USB-C ports in the dashboard - we'll catch up in the Third World - don't worry. The great advantage of the Third World is that we ALWAYS wait for the 5th generation of any product before introducing it here.
