Android Question Use FontAwesome Icons on Activity AddMenuItem3

I'd like to use Icons from FontAwesome on the Activity Menu similar to the above but I'm having trouble getting a consistent bitmap from a FontAwesome character. Can anyone suggest a simple way of doing this?
