Hi everybody,
was someone able to use B4A on an Android loaded Rasberry(and it's clones)?
I'm puzzled between using native Linux languages and Android B4A.
I need to build a data logger, with input from Serial port.
Thank you!

Hi Don,
I just wanted to check, but I think you are right!
Linux is perfect for embedded use. I'll not load Xwindows, so RAM will be not a problem.
And for $8, Orange PI I96 (wi-fi, BT and SD/USB) has enough power for my job!

Easy Peasy with Android Things from Google and B4A. ONLY for Raspberry Pi 3!!!!!

It is still in some 'Beta' version but I am running more and more controller apps on it. Currently porting a full blown Windows/PLC app to the Pi.

To be honest, all the Android versions I tried was waay to Buggy for my use. Also, I need long term support.

Lastly, I gave up on Linux (Raspbian) due to complex loading drivers and then distributing the final product. I am spoiled with Windows :(

I don't think that additional devices is a problem to me. I need serial port, RTC and USB memory stick. I have selected Orange PI I96, which has bluetooth(I'll use to control from an Android device). It's a Chinese hardware but I think it's Rasperry too.

Ok, just to clarify some vagueness in my post. All ports of Android I could find OTHER than Android Things for the Raspberry Pi were buggy. As far as I remember Orange Pi do have their own port of Android 4.4 ??

You will have to add an external RTC I think.

enjoy
