Share My Creation VR Base for Oculus Rift!

Hey guys!

I had an exciting idea yesterday - to create an Android App for the Oculus Rift! At the moment it's just in Beta to test if there's a market there (I hear there have been about 50,000 development kits sold). Still though, it was a fun project and I'd love to know your thoughts :)

As always, I am speaking too.

But this time ... too!

I did not know this "oculus rift" (indeed, still do not know: something like the 3d?).

But I respond to a "request" with a question:

Yesterday you had this idea and there is already a beta on the market?

Or "yesterday" was "so to speak"?

Oh you should check it out! The Oculus Rift is awesome - it's basically a 3D headset yes, but it also has motion tracking and other cool features for gaming. It's not released yet, but you can get hold of low-res Developer Kits...

And yeah... I made this one pretty quick. I had no other work that day (I'm self employed) so worked about 12 hours straight. I get a real urge to release stuff fast when I have a good idea incase someone beats me to it! Then if people seem interested I can develop it further knowing there's a market there rather than spend months making something that gets 1 download.

So far this one has had four downloads haha! It's generating some discussion though which is cool :)

Haha well you know the story about the tortoise and the hare! Often I release things too early and that ends up backfiring (lol that's not meant to sound dodgy...). It's a fine line :)

Yes, I know that story ... but I know lots of stories liars ;)

Probably, in addition to your post on the marketing strategies (I appreciate it) also soon publish an app is a good strategy, although it is still not "perfect" or complete

To be fair, some implementations can be ridiculously quick from start to finish.. I guess we won't know what the code looks like behind the scenes, so can only imagine. Most of mine took a few months to implement, but B4A for me is a side interest. I did manage to implement an App from start to completion in 2 weeks, which I thought was pretty good.

I've always been quite a fast worker. I earn money as an app developer but also as a freelance writer. On a typical day I write 10,000 words and have time to do some coding too! I'm a bit weird :p

What helps is that I outsource various tasks and also create my code in such a way that I can re-use elements. When I built this app I took a menu I'd pre-made, used a background I'd bought from Fiverr and used a content picker I'd previously built too. I try not to spend too much time on any project that I can't later break down and re-use elements of. It's efficient that way :p

This is the big bit for me - code reuse!! I've got similar code elements across my Apps, plug them in and away you go! :)
