Watch it! Samsung is abandoning the hardware menu

Samsung will soon stop supporting the hardware menu, so it is better to prepare right from now and plan your soft menus.
In Galaxy 5s they gave it a little push by allowing users of old apps to use a long press on the same place to use the h/w menu.
next version may not include even this feature.

Not just Samsung, they're all going this way - it's a Google directive..

So what does this mean for developers? Stop using AddMenuItem and start using things like navigation drawer?

You can continue using the standard menu. On devices without a menu button a three dots button appears in the action bar instead.
