What is my remote IP address

Is there a way to read my current remote IP address, the address on the internet side of the network path? I tried 'GetMyIP' from the 'ServerSocket' object, but that returns the NAT'd internal address provided to my phone by my provider. Third-party apps such as "What's My Remote IP?" can do this, but I want B4A to get it.

Joe,

When you install B4A - Bridge on your phone and run it, it should give the IP address of your router.
Not sure if this is what you are looking for ........

Actually, that's the NAT address I was referring to, ie, the local address provided by the WiFi router or the mobile data service provider. What I need is the address on the other side of the router (the internet address) and I want to read it from B4A, not another app.

I'll answer my own question and consider this case closed:

Do a request to this URL "http://www.whatismyip.com/automation/n09230945.asp". What comes back is your IP address, in plain text with no HTML formatting. Got this from the cover page of Erel's "B4A Bridge" app.

Do a simple IP php script on a remote server, and call it.

As an update to this thread, the above URL apparently went off the air a couple of years ago. As a replacement URL, http://icanhazip.com/ works beautifully, returning HTML with nothing but your IP address.
