What are the "EatWhatYouKill" log messages about?

I see warning messages in the log from a logger named “EatWhatYouKill”. I’ve seen that same logging in other threads but have yet to see anything about what is generating them. The latest message I have seen is as follows: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Delegate is not set at...

I thought I had cured this in another post regarding deleting corrupt zip files.
I checked if the zip file was valid, if not - delete it - and carry on with other files in the list...

In this example, it could not delete it (like some process had a firm handle on it), and it remained in the cue for processing - for many cycles.
Eventually, when new files came in to the cue - IT WAS DELETED! Everything else carried on normally until the mess of the above error log was raised again.

Fortunately, it works its way out but rather disturbing seeing all this (error) in the log. Seems to do with HTTP file transfer but very hard to tell...
I have a notion that the timer jumps on the file to process while it is still in transfer from the device?

You need to provide more information. What is the server doing? I see that it happens in a WebSocket handler? Are you transferring files in that handler? This is not recommended. Better to create a separate regular handler for file transfers.

The Timer methods.
Essentially, a folder is checked to see if new .zip files exists (every 10 seconds).
These zip files are anywhere from 500 k to 1.5 meg in size...
If a new file does exist - it is checked for validity. If valid check fails, it is deleted (or attempts to delete). I have detected invalid files in the past...
If valid check passes, it is extracted, copied to an archive folder - then deleted...

A file handler is used for incoming new files from devices... (code below).

I don't know, but it may be possible that I am grabbing the file before it is fully written to disk (in transfer).
In this case - it will fail validity check and be locked by the transfer (not able to delete)...
Perhaps I should inject a Sleep(3000) prior to processing - allowing the (potential) transfer to complete prior to jumping on it...???

is this a websocket server?
if yes, then it means that an alive connection hasnt been used for that amount of time, it is not a jetty settings, it could actually be a OS setting, Java setting or something else. if it is indeed a websocket, then to avoid this issue send a proof of life every x minutes so the server keeps it alive.

Yes, no, I guess so... frankly - I don't know... (me being stupid again)

It's my famous ABMaterial project that has been running for over 6 years - without seeing this issue before...
Although, I just refactored the code above - from using FileWatcher to a timer that checks for new files in a dir...

It looks like the file handler gets stuck for several minutes.

First step is to add some log messages to better understand where it happens. The async unzip is a bit suspicious.

The server is doing basically nothing, other than waiting for files to arrive. Once in a while (once every month), someone will log in to view a page of interest....

Just trying to figure this out without having to worry about a process stalling or exploding the app....

Like I said, worked for 6 years properly - until I switched to a (quick) timer.

I shall solve it... - just reaching...
