for now i must use the hosted builder?

You can install both Xcode 8.0 and 9.0.

when will b4i work with xcode 9.0 ?

Assuming that you are using B4i v4.3 then there are two things that are not supported with Xcode 9: swift libraries and uploading to the app store.
