B4J Question Will Anything Change When Apple's M1 Chip Arrives?

Apple hardware is going to have a new CPU! What does that mean for B4X apps?

Uh that's a pretty dumb headline.

Firstly web apps != Electron apps.

Web apps are going nowhere.

Electron will be on ARM based Mac soon enough given Chrome is already running on it and most of Electron is Chrome under the hood.

Sure native iOS apps are neat but they are sandboxed and aren't always as functional as proper applications.

Oh and B4X apps, as long as there is a JRE for ARM it will run - and dont forget Android runs on ARM so a JRE on ARM Mac is a given.

That's not accurate however we can expect a port of Java + JavaFX to run on the new Macs (also possible that current Java will run).

B4J desktop apps have nothing to do with web apps (and the blog title is indeed misleading).

Something must be running on the M1. Xerial's JDBC driver for SQLite seems to have M1 support (https://github.com/xerial/sqlite-jdbc/pull/558).
