B4J Question [ABMaterial]: Request Step by step Linux Deployment for Dummies

Hi there

As per topic, can someone kind enough please help? I've been deploying on Windows WebServer for a while now and I know absolutely nada about Linux.

I'm faced with having to deploy an ABM app on a linux managed server. I would make a silly assumption that all these things work in a similar fashion, e.g. same interface in the back end (that I have never seen)

I've seen Erels post, well "...ensure your port is open in the firewall...", where do I get the firewall? Do'nt laugh..

Whoever is going to help out may need to more on this. Are you hosting this yourself? Are you using a third party? Linux version? Distribution versoin?

ensure your port is open in the firewall

This may or may not apply. If the server is hosted on AWS, Azure, or by Google, then this applies, but applies just a little bit different for each case. So give us some more information on the deployment/hosting end of the server.

Thanks @OliverA , the person in question has a managed server from hetzner, https://hetzner.co.za/managed-servers/, I'm not even sure where to start. I understand it should also be on top of SSL. Will something like this do?

Read through this excellent series by @Ed Brown (https://www.b4x.com/android/forum/threads/gce-for-noobs-part-1-intro.85727/#content). It's tailored to Google Compute Engine (GCE), but I would say 80+% should apply. The parts that will be different will pertain to GCE specific configurations (firewall, user access, billing, etc) and any Linux distribution specific items.
