iOS Question b4i without an apple device

i was looking into b4i and ia own a pc and a mac. I was wondering if i could develop an iphone app without an apple device besides a macbook.

Also if b4i would be suitable for a standalone business app with an sql lite and later on for an iphone app that talks to a remote database.
From the looks of the questions and answers in the forum i assume it would be suitable but i would like to know if anyone developed such solutions.
I used to be a vb programmer years ago, and the learning curve of C# or xcode + X language is a little steep for me.

Yes. You can use the iOS simulator with a local Mac.

Yes. Both are supported. There are many ways to connect to a remote database. RDC (jRDC2) is the most recommended method.
