B4J Question B4XSerializer

I am using MQTT to transfer data over Wifi. It all works fine when usinf pin data as bytes. I also am trying to send temperatures over MqTT.

B4R code is Dim celsius as double = 20.9375
Dim data() as byte
data = ser.convertarraytobytes(Array(celsius))
MQTT.publish("Topic",Data)

B4J code is Dim Ser as B4XSerializator
Dim Buffer() As Object = Ser.ConvertBytesToObject(Payload)
(B4J app compiles OK! but crashes when run - error 'java.utils.zip.ZipExceptions incorrect header check' etc)

Any suggestions appreciated
