C2DM screen trigger

Hi,

I've seen the C2DM tutorial and i was wondering if it's possible to trigger a screen on your application with C2DM.

So far i understand it's only possible to send messages or is this only an example for one of the possibilities?

First i wanted to make a service that connects every minute to the server to see if there is new information but that puts a heavy load on the server. I don't know what WhatsApp uses for new messages?

You can call StartActivity from the service to show an activity.
