B4J Question Choosing the right online database for small applications b4j and b4a

Hello,
I have the following question - I made a small application for our office that works with the SQLite database and now I want to improve it, develop it by making it available online for desktop and Android devices. I bought a hosting with MySQL, but in order to use the database I have to install OpenVPN on each device. What would you advise me to use for an easier connection with MySQL?

Do you really want/need it available online (external)?

My experience:
many many years ago, I sold an B4J app to my boss while working a 9-5
I initially set up a simple local server using XAMPP for internal access, and later, we transitioned to a proper server hosted on a VPS
