I want to transmit and receive data via a real UHF walkie talkie. I want to connect the phone to the UHF radio headset input using the earphone/mic input on the phone. Would even consider making a USB transceiver to convert audio to digital and back - if necessary.
The issue maybe the radio headset switch’s between speaker and mic to limit accidental transmission. In UHF parlance this is called PUSH TO TALK or PTT.
Has anyone done something like this? Is there an android phone that can activate the PTT feature on the radio? Or code to access a GPIO on an Android Phone?
