Android Question Does A Device Have To Have NFC Support

Hello

If I want to use the B4A lib to read nfc data does the device have to have nfc built in or is it all handled by Android?

Apologies if this is a stupid question but cannot find anything in the forum to give me a clue to the answer.

What do you mean the device has to have NFC Support?
There are many devices without an NFC sensor.

I have a tablet that does not have NFC built in so I am not sure if I can use it, with B4A code, to read an NFC tag.

You surely want to test it with some NFC tags. This will be impossible with a device without NFC abilities.

Thanks for the reply. I think you have answered my question in that I cannot read nfc tags without a device that has nfc hardware built in. It was just an idea I was exploring and not a problem as I have not written any code yet. I can now change my direction and look at iBeacon instead if there are any libs available which I have asked in a question someone else raised.
