iOS Question Establish BLE connection with non-advertising peripheral?

I have a BLE device that advertises for the first minute after it is switched on.
My b4i app scans, finds and connects to the device, and saves the name and deviceID.
On subsequent app launches, the device is going to be present but not advertising, still connectable though, however I get an error in my app if I try connect using the saved details;

Is there any workaround or is it simply impossible to connect to a BLE device that isn't actively advertising?

You can only connect to peripherals that were previously found with the DeviceFound event.
