Is there a way to get the event for the locking and unlocking of the display?

Yes. With ScreenOn / Off from the PhoneEvents library. Note that the events will only be intercepted while your process is running. This means that in most cases you need to call Service.StartForeground.

So screenon/off can't be added to the manifest?

No. It cannot be used with a static intent filter.
