Good afternoon everyone,

Am looking at the forum and i can see that there are thousands of visitors per day and only few members that are online and interact with others

In MyBB forum software there is a feature called "hidden content" where the thread creator can post a "hidden content" and the viewers can only see the hidden content if they comment or like the thread then the hidden content will appear.

i believe this will increase the forum members and interactions by miles.

XenForo has this plugin available just like MyBB forum :

So maybe adding this an option in the Thread creation page would help a lot increasing the forum interactions and members registrations.

I can see this being useful for code snippets, spoilers and other things...
It can indeed at least increase the interaction with posts, even if just to say "I saw this"

This is a technical support forum, not a social forum. The core purpose here is straightforward: people come with a problem, and others help them solve it.
Adding a "hidden content" feature would actually work against that goal. If someone posts a solution or a critical piece of information and locks it behind a like/comment wall, users and visitors facing the same issue would be unable to quickly locate the answer via search in forum.

I agree with you that's why i said "adding this an option" , and the thread creator chooses if they want to do it or not.

the only purpose for this wish is to increase the forum activity, and when the forum is active it will increase the creativity of the members, new projects, codes, ideas and collaborations would surface

and the more activity the better the search results in google and other search engines which would bring new developers to B4X, and there are thousands of forums that have this feature in it to increase the forum activity which benefits all parties (poster and viewer)

Imagine if this forum had only Erel posting since day 1, would B4X be what it is today?

B4X is the result of every creative mind that came together and took it to the next level, and not "visitors only".

I just checked this XenForo plugin... quite interesting options..

  • Hidden text for club members
  • Hidden text by the number of days
  • Hidden text for groups
  • Hidden text for registered members
  • Hidden text by the number of likes
  • Hidden text by the number of messages
  • Hidden text by specific reaction
  • Hidden text until user replies to topic
  • Hidden text until the user replies to the topic and clicks I like
  • Hidden text until the user replies to the topic or clicks I like
  • Hidden text on the number of resources (An installed resource manager plugin is required, otherwise disable this bb code)
  • Hidden text until the user clicks I like
  • Hidden text for users
  • Hidden text prohibiting viewing to certain users
  • Hidden text by user id
  • Hidden text prohibiting viewing to certain users by id

Personally however, I think if that was done in the old days, it would have worked. The issue these days is basically AI.

This is today, 20 online members and over 9K guests, basically, Hiding things will work against the b4x forum as AI wont find it. It has been established that the number of questions being asked in the forum has decreased tremendously already. Erel has worked on Code Bundlers to ensure AI learns about B4x, so the scope is changing.

The concept of hiding, well yeah, even I was thinking if the forum has a "draft" or publish on some other day it would work wonders, sadly I think timing is the issue.


Wait...

An AI does a search, finds that a post is "hidden", asks the user to login and clicks the link... more user engagement.

OR

An AI hacks the "hidden" link and shows it, because you gave it a goal to reach... ha ha ha... more guests engaments..

I dunno...

100% it will not change anything!
Most of the online users are bots.
We do not want to hide content from bots. Bots don´t interact/comment at all.
