I need to do this from inside the app so the user presses a button to copy the file.

How far is your user away from you? Countries or across the desk?

If you have the device, plug in a USB cable and copy the file off the old fashioned way - Windows File Explorer..
Otherwise you may need to implement the B4J Server project. The example shows the client and server and works great out of the box for sending text or files - albeit from a content chooser (remove that and specify your path and file name).
