How to get StateManager to work with UserInterfaceButtonToolbox example

Hello,
I'm using the UserInterfaceButtonToolbox example code (from the Download page) as my baseline and I have added a EditText1 on Page 1 and put some text in the box but when I turn the phone to a different orientation the text disappears. I tried to incorporate the StateManager example 1.11 but still no luck. I was hoping you could shed some light on how to get this working.
