Bug? IDE black window

When I open B4J (and B4A, B4I, B4R) IDE I get a completely black window. Screenshot provided. This started a few weeks ago.

If I reboot, it works normally. At some time the black window problem returns. I have no idea what triggers it.

Windows compatibility wizard does not fix the problem. I reinstalled all the B4X products.

This is the only product on my system that behaves this way.

Windows 10 pro/64, fall creators update. 64g ram. Duel opteron 4226 sockets / 12 cores. Nvidia video driver (GT 630) version 388.00

According to one of AlwaysBusy posts in his blog, the Fall Creators windows update brought a series of new bug to windows10, and code that previously worked without a problem, suddenly stopped working.

This is the only issue I have witnessed, and the problem was there before I did the update. I had hoped the update would fix it.

My system is rather boring, in what's in it. Aside from a few VMs and EMail, I just use it to develop software.

That post would be ODBC and Excel related. I don't think it applies here.

I think it applies to c# and B4x IDE's uses a couple of c# libs

It looks like a display driver issue. Try to update it and also update .Net Framework.

I am on the latest for my card (that's why I updated it) and .net is up to date. My original hunch was the vid driver. I have a laptop running the same version of windows with no issues.

It's a pain to reboot, but it is a work around. I'll give a beta driver a go. I'll post anything that works.

And the winner is.........Spotify! The moment I run this, I get a black window from B4Xs IDE. So much for my need to listen to music while I work

Can someone try this combo to see if it is just something in my system?

And the cure......

Put spotify in the win8 compatibility mode with the troubleshooter. Reboot......it's windows. Problem gone.

Erel, when any (b4i,b4j,b4r,b4a) app launches, the logo splash looks fine. It's the main window that is black. Is there anything special you use to launch windows? What version of .net are you compiling against? These are the only apps that have an issue. Any information would help.

Because I posted the above, I found the conflict. That would be life I guess.

The product is Stardock's WindowBlinds. It has an option not to effect on selected programs, but apparently that does not work on yours. Only unloading that software cures the effects. You might want to look into that one. I will be contacting stardock in the morning.
