Would love an IDE for mac, not skilled with b4j but enjoying it and learning quickly, however running a virtual machine is an irritating extra step!

Use PlayOnMac until then.
Will give that a go, Thankyou!
Warning: PlayOnMac does not work with macOS Catalina (v10.15) and next, because it drop 32bits support.
