iOS Question IOS Versioning?

Getting ready to upload my first ios app and trying to get it right the first time. As so frequently happens for me researching here has only left me more confused,
Unlike Android I find only Version in thep. No Version Code but reading on the forum I see people talking about builds, but I am not sure if that is something that happens in the apple store or something I am missing in my app.

I also want to make sure I display the appropriate information on my about screen.

I am sure there is something I need to read about this somewhere - can someone point me in the right direction?

Yes, I understand that, but it can be whatever you want? Does Apple require that it always be > previous version when you post updates?

It can't be the same as previous uploaded builds. I'm not sure whether it must be larger or not...
