Android Question Is there any way to prevent Android from pausing a process

Is there any way to prevent Android from pausing/destroying a process that has been moved to the background?

I'm working on a media player, and I don't want to risk the music stopping/stuttering just because Android thought the user didn't want it anymore because the user is working in another app.
