Android Question Issue installing my first App

I press the triangle to install an app onto my Samsung Notes 3, select WiFi (and it is connected), the "Installing" appears on the Samsung, but stays there. It doesn't get any further than this.
I get no error messages.

Try to use USB debug mode instead. You will need to install the matching USB driver and enable USB debug mode on the device.

Sorry for being such a beginner but how do I choose to use the USB debug mode?
How do I install the USB driver and enable the USB debug mode? I'm using a Samsung Note 3.
While building my app is it recommended I always use debug mode until I've finished.

None of this is in the book I have.
