The result of Log(....) stmt goes to the log window of the IDE.

Where is the Log output when the the app is running on a device not connected to the IDE?

Log() does not "go to the log window of the IDE". It goes to the same place whether the IDE is connected or not and that is to the logcat | Android Developers

The IDE reads the logcat buffers using adb if connected by USB or via B4A-Bridge if connected by the network.

pls enlighten me; where can I find it on the device (once an app that "produces logcat" runs on the phone)? Any specific way to view it (as text???) on my phone when it is not connected to the IDE or PC at all??

You can use apps like catlog from the market to view it on the phone but i think from JB onwards it requires special permissions.
