Hi guys,

I'm in the final stages of a multilingual desktop (B4J) app, and require some assistance.

I have a list of languages ( the ones between quotes ) that I would like to correctly translate ( i.e. Portuguese translates as Português)

"Chinese"
"Spanish"
"Italian"
"German"

English
Français
Português

Then I have a few sentences to be translated in the same manner, with correct grammar.
These are the English versions :

"Choose External File #4"
"Choose B4J Installation folder"
"External Paths"
"B4X Paths"
"Cancel"
"Done"
"Choose Language"

Help will be much appreciated!

French (but should be adapted with the context, not so easy)

"Choose External File #4" -> Choisir un fichier externe #4
"Choose B4J Installation folder" -> Choisir le dossier d'installation de B4J
"External Paths" -> Chemins externes
"B4X Paths" -> Chemins B4X
"Cancel" -> Annuler
"Done" -> Terminé
"Choose Language" -> Langue or Choisir la langue

(Edit: sorry it doesn't keep the space formatting)

Français
Perfect

Hi Cableguy,

Italiano (also in this case, the translations should be adapted with the context)

"Scegliere il file esterno #4"
"Scegliere la cartella di installazione di B4J"
"Percorsi esterni"
"Percorsi B4X"
"Annulla"
"Fatto"
"Scegli la lingua" or "Scegli il linguaggio"

Hi Cableguy,

Italian (also in this case, the translations should be adapted with the context)

"Scegliere il file esterno #4"
"Scegliere la cartella di installazione di B4J"
"Percorsi esterni"
"Percorsi B4X"
"Annulla"
"Fatto"
"Scegli la lingua" or "Scegli il linguaggio"

shouldn't Italian be "Italiano"?

Maybe it is time to take a well earned trip to your local Chinese restaurant!
Not too fond of Chinese food, also, I wouldn't know how to type it!
Mandarin calligraphy is an art

Hi @Cableguy ,

I hope @maXim will agree with me on the following points:

"Choose.." in the expected context is better translated as "Selezionare" or even "Indicare"
"Scegli la lingua" is preferable to "linguaggio" since the former is what's used for human languages while the second is mostly used for programming languages or the scientific work on the rules and structure of a language or any cognitive study on the subject.

my 2cent.

@@udg = ticinese :):D

Peggio... terrùn 100% :D

For those who doesn't speak italian: @moster67 jockingly highlighted that since I live in Lugano I'm from Ticino, a nice region in Switzerland where Italian is the official language, but sometimes it doesn't match 100% with the languange as spoken in Italy. I replied that reality is even worse for him since I was born in South Italy, so I can proudly claim the "terrùn" title, a word that often is used with negative implications, but here we are jocking one with the other.

Enjoy
