I fear it will not be useful; in fact, it could even be counterproductive if there were not thousands of members
The longest journeys start with a single step!
One could discuss what strategies could be used to increase the spread of B4X.
Some could be:
  • adding inheritance
  • creating B4W (for WEB)
  • lying about the number of employees of Anywhere Software, making it appear that they are 1,751 😁
Introducing new features alone will not improve b4x awareness.
The reasoning behind the FB Group is that, every pro dev is also member of other programing languages groups, and with it, the B4X group will be suggested to that other group's members. It's the snow ball effect. But for that to happen, existing b4x members need to "play the game" and join.

Yesterday, before creating the b4x group, I had joined a BASIC lovers group, and posted there about b4x. By itself, my posting created an all day long discussion on that group, and even though I posted in the forum trying to get b4x members to pitch in, only aeric did!
Nevertheless, at least they were "aware" now that b4x exists, and that is the main goal!

Almost 50 members! What a great start!

While adhesion is still moderated, Posting is no longer moderated, meaning you can post at will and it will just show up in the group page!
This also means that you are now the sole responsible for what you post! So be careful!

The objective os the FB group is to share experiences, raise awareness of the existence of b4x and Apps created with it!

So PLEASE! do post! Tutorials, snippets, solutions, anything B4X related!
The more alive the group is, more and more people will find it, and not only B4X forum members!

Hi @Cableguy . Tutorials and solutions sound good but snippets? Facebook is not that code friendly as B4X forum and I suppose it will not appear correctly.

not the snippet itself, but a description with a link... Facebook groups also have search capabilities, so a snippet (the link to it in the forum) could also be searched for

I think social media like FB is more suitable for news announcement and to showcase projects in the form of picture and videos.

Based on what you just said I have seen a video in Instagram that is not very relevant but adds up to what you just have said. The video had to do with ads and said that Google Ads is a way for targeting people that actively search for products similar to yours while Facebook ads is to target people based on demographics and likes, that do not actively search for products like yours and this increases brand awareness and stuff like that. Besides that @Cableguy is also right in the connections approach. Maybe a combination of a catchy description of the FB group that will attract eyes and clicks and also some active posts with tutorials that will engage the user that clicked in a way: "Wow, I want to be able to do this also!!!"

Exactly.... devs usually don't go search for new ways of coding, unless they were told about it in the first place... they trend to stick to what they know and/or invested time and money learning... So a Facebook Group will target more those who already show interest in a theme, like VB Basic, C+, Coding (I just joined 3 groups that just had that specific word in their name) and by doing so, other groups that have the same theme of interest are suggested to those who already are part of such communities.
Hopefully, we will get a pyramid effect on our FB group

What we can do is to increase the market shares slightly.
It is similar to Linux vs Windows / MacOS.
They are giant companies with their marketing teams tried to hide users from using good product and do a lot of nasty things to create negative impressions to their competition.
It is not easy to fight with these giant companies.
I can see other programming languages like Java and C also getting attacked. They want to promote C#, Python and Rust. Only the developers who stand together can keep these languages alive.

Do you see Ferrari attacking Renault or Ford? or vice-versa? Each have their niche users, and so does B4X. Our aim is not to conquer the world of codding ... our goal is to stand in the crowd and still get recognized as a true valid solution, and maybe, just maybe, get some credit from pro developers.

I can't comment on automobile industry but I give the example from what I observed from software world. I am not talking on something unrelated.

Facebook is asking me to provide a front and side selfie, along with other personal information to verify my identity.
If I don't, I can't create an account. I find this very strange.
I have no intention of providing anything to Meta.
So, it will be without me.
Sorry.

The account created yesterday is already suspended

It is very difficult to get people to the B4x site.

I've been trying to convince my son-in-law for several years and I can't do it. He has tried, but it's not that easy to get started.
There are no proper video tutorials and manuals like there are for Microsoft products.

He's watched all the video tutorials available, but he's not convinced.

Hi guys,

I reached out to EREL and asked for his permission to create a Group in FaceBook to promote B4X, of course he said..... yes!
The group is created, as Public and moderated... for now there's only me, but I hope that soon, there will be many more...
So I invite you all to join https://www.facebook.com/groups/635067725570594 and help spread B4X farther!

View attachment 165062
If any of you think that you can be a moderator, I think we will need up to 2 moderator in addition to the 2 Admins (me and EREL)

Thank you all in advance!
Joined @Cableguy thanks for creating group.

Did he check even the Booklets from @klaus ?
But I can understand his feeling.

sorry to read that! I have my Fb for over 20 years, so ...
I know for a fact that EU laws now oblige Social Media to verify new users age, so I guess that that is part of the procedure.
I once had a banking account with Konto, and they had the same method to verify I was, 1 - a real human being, 2 - of legal age to own an account.
