new user working thru beginners guide

I've completed 1.1.1 instructions, but am confused by beginning of 1.2 where it says :

"Please follow the installation (and configuration) instructions if you have not done it yet" . I'm not able to navigate to the url in the guide. I get an http 404 not found error. This confuses me.

Are there installation(and configuration) steps I need to complete before I begin with the steps for creating an AVD? My intent is to begin with basic4android using the emulator only as I don't yet own an android device.

Such a newbie question but I want to get off on the right foot.

I've answered my own question on this one...I didn't realize the link in the beginners guide was clickable.
