Android Question On smartphones the keyboard takes up the whole screen (landscape)

This statement is almost obvious.

But I never worried about that until some time ago; the user should be able to see a ProgressBar indicating the remaining time he has when entering text.

What to do?

Create a transparent keyboard ad hoc? (it's difficult to create a keyboard useful for different languages).

Or? Settle for a sound "ProgressBar"?

This is a big problem.

Can I switch to portrait when the EditText gets the focus?

I should try, but if you've already solved this way, I would like to know your opinion.


No, user should rotate his device, it is not a good solution.
