I am playing around with a LED Strip Lights that run off of 12v and was looking to power the chip and lights from one source.

Found these cheap development boards https://www.ebay.com/itm/ESP8266-CH...var=610769041588&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 that break the 12v coming in to 5v and 3.3v for the chip

NOTE: these are made for the chips that have CH340G chip.

But enough extra pins to play with and not extra parts to play with just plug in and connect lights

Just in case someone else is doing the same thing

You can use a "DC-DC Step Down Power Supply " (search aliexpress or elsewhere) , several types, the output voltage can be adjusted to what you need. You'll need to solder the 12v input and the output to the board.
