Teenagers call me "Sir" at the queue of the supermarket...:(:(
Heh! I got asked recently if I have a Gold Card (which is what age pensioners here in NZ get for discounts). I'm 15 years away from qualifying!

For about 20 years I worked in mining & agricultural technology roles - ranging from implementation & support of machine control & GPS guidance / auto-steer / fleet management systems through to development of new hardware / software for autonomous systems (automated proving grounds testing for Ford, autonomous haulage systems & remote control excavator & dozer systems for mining, etc...), operations & regional management of a mining software company, etc, etc...

While I was doing that I started to develop mobile apps as a hobby - firstly with B4A, then moving into Obj-C & Swift on iOS. I'm lucky enough to be able to scrape a living from it, so it's now my full-time job.

As in Linesmen?
Yes
They probably get more money in danger money than I do salary
The work is mostly non-energized (transmission work on 69KV+ lines). But even then, with overtime, a lineman's gross can reach 6 figures. Not bad for not needing any degrees. Keep in mind, the work is still dangerous, especially in some of the mountainous terrain they have to work in (cliffs, bluffs, overhangs, no roads, etc).

I've worked 15 years as a Customer Engineer on a Telco company (VPN, Frame Relay Networks, etc..); the last 5 years I'm in a educational project (http://www.glifing.com) to detect reading difficulties on childs and train with gaming activities to minimize their dificulties (I'm on the investigation and developer fields, https://www.b4x.com/android/forum/t...eading-difficulties-evaluation.79819/#content); last three months creating a server-client solution to implement the tests on several Argentina Schools (B4J solution - client (sqlite), jRDC2 (sqlite) and jserver for Server, ABMaterial next..)

Reading all this it made me think about what I have done and are currently up to now.
In short, I normally answer "I have done all except Preaching, teaching and skydiving."

Computer wise:
Started programming on the Sinclair ZX and Commodore 64. Bought my first PC (Olivetti) with only TWO floppy drives (no Hard drive yet) and started with dBaseIII. Then on to Clipper Alaska XBase++ then C++ (Borland products) and now B4A for Tablets and Raspberry Pi. Just started B4J for my next desktop app that will be closely integrated with scales and other processing equipment. (I am actually a mechanical engineer with a trade as well and a self taught programmed/systems developer.)

Software developed for the timber industry (From prep before tree plant right up to the lumber sales at the shop.) Then started developing Ready Mix automation systems and now design and manufacture our own PLC and use the Pi with Android Things.

AND, I don't care about money as long as I can ride my motorcycle on as many trips as possible. Maybe I am just lucky that I do what I like most and dont care about the rest.

Live once, die once.
