I open this thread because something strange happend to one of my apps.

I can not remember last time the app had an increase in active users as you can see for more than one year the active users slope is negative.

What happned ?
My app was a simple shopping list that had a custom keyboard build by me a strange keyboard that copied querty layout , but users could also use native keyboard by seting this option from settings.

What did I do ?
Changed by default the usage of native keyboard.
Modified store listing and get rid of the custom keyboard images, aded new simple storelisting snapshots.

Results ?
the active users incresed and i could see again a positive slope after more than a year going down.
Visits converstions increased from 3% to 20% ....

You can always test your app features and make turnovers for your apps...just you need to get rid of your stange ideas and stuffs that are only in your head...

[I cannot see the images]

I can explain everything, because I am the leading expert on Google Play, as I have published... zero apps :D

I think that the changes that you make to the apps bring them out on Google Play (if I remember well, there is a section for updated apps).

Moreover, probably many people buy new devices in this time of year (that is why I was hoping to publish my first app in December; in fact, I'll publish it in December... 2033 :p)

Last climb of the app 14 may 2015 ...total of users 870
until ......................30 octomber 2015 ...total of users 411
NOW TOTAL 452

No major fluctuations with linear slopes ...

This climb has nothing to do with new devices or google changes... I was the one that changed the app and modified statistics
it is about creating strange keyboard that people does not have any interest to use it ... qwerty keyboard as they are used was the major change that
allowed people to use and keep the app ....

I belive the app must have an interface for all commune users , some of them do not find settings
A good practice is to have minimum functionality and allow people to activate advanced settings only when they look for it
User friendly is sometimes about finding the same features in the same place ... as the users are used to it ...my keyboard was not user friendly that is why
native keyboard did the job in this case
I will come back to this thread one year later to demonstrate the issue

There used to be a 'bug' that perhaps still exists, where when a current user updates your app it counts as a download/new user. Perhaps this still happens?

I did not knew there is such thing ..I guess it will be a good practice to update apps from time to time other wise google play will say you forgot about them or left them alone on the market

It is my literal translation (I don't know how to open the english page) but I'm sure that there is the same there.

I think "you" should modify little things of your apps often ;)
